Beech Class

Teacher - Miss Peters and HLTA - Mrs Day.

Welcome to Beech Class!  Our topic this term is ‘Heroes’.

In English, we will continue to develop our writing skills through the Clever Writer approach.  We employ various techniques to enhance creativity, grammar, and vocabulary, enabling students to become confident and eloquent writers. In Year 2, we recognize the importance of understanding and applying spelling rules and we encourage children to learn their home spellings.

This term we have a specific focus on multiplication and division in Maths. We ensure that students grasp key concepts and develop strong problem-solving skills. Through interactive lessons and practical examples, we aim to make learning maths enjoyable and accessible to all children in Beech Class.

One of our chosen 'heroes' is Florence Nightingale, a pioneering nurse who made a remarkable impact on the field of healthcare. We will explore her inspiring journey, her contributions to modern nursing, and how her work continues to influence healthcare practices today. In comparison we will also be studying the life of Mary Seacole. By studying these remarkable individuals, we hope to develop values of compassion, determination, and resilience in our students.

This term in Science we will learn about animals, including humans. We believe it's essential for children to understand the wonders of the animal kingdom and the intricate connections between animals and humans. We explore different animal habitats, their unique adaptations and their life cycles and behaviours. Our aim is to foster a sense of curiosity and appreciation for the incredible diversity of life on our planet.

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursday. Please remember to wear school PE kits on these days.

We strive to create a warm and nurturing atmosphere where your child can thrive, grow, and discover their full potential both academically and personally.  I hope the children enjoy the topics this year and I am confident they will show me what incredible learners they are. Thank you for your continued support, we are always available to speak to if you have any concerns or questions.
